Data protection is so important for public institutions and authorities because there are few other places where more personal data is collected. Therefore, a particularly high level of data protection compliance is demanded of authorities and public institutions. The Federal Data Protection Act specifies when public authorities may collect data, how they may store and process it, and what requirements the transfer of this data must meet.
