Dr. Jan Scharfenberg has been a lawyer at Schürmann Rosenthal Dreyer Rechtsanwälte since 2024 and is an expert in information security law. He specialises in IT law contract drafting, IT and data protection audits, risk management and platform regulation.

He also covers a wide range of regulatory and corporate compliance issues and advises on international go-to-market projects.

Dr. Scharfenberg began his legal training by studying law at the University of Potsdam, followed by his second state law examination at the Potsdam Regional Court and a legal clerkship in Brussels. He then completed a Master’s degree (LL.M.) at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa and obtained his doctorate in international law from the University of Potsdam in 2014.

Before joining Schürmann Rosenthal Dreyer, Dr Scharfenberg was Head of Legal and Compliance at Vivy GmbH, a health IT start-up of the Allianz Group in Berlin, and previously worked as a lawyer at Dentons Europe LLP in Berlin, most recently as Counsel.
